Technology News

3/4/2011  Windows 7 has just rolled out major fixes in a form of Windows 7 Service Pack 2. But wait. Guess what Microsoft engineers have been cooking for over a year? Windows 8! That's right, Windows 8 is being actively developed and according to rumors, Microsoft will showcase a tablet PC running Windows 8 this june. There are already some leaked screen shots of the new user interface on the Internet. For those curious, you can see what Windows 8 will look like at this website.

3/2/2011  Apple does it again. Much anticipated Ipad 2 has been unveiled to the public yesterday. iPad2 will feature dual core processors (oh my) running at twice the speed of the original one for 4 x the performance. In addition, accelerated graphics (9 x faster), 33% thinner, 10 hour battery life and did I mention front and rear cameras? Prices will range from $499 to $849 depending on whether you want the built in 3G Internet modem as well as 64GB SSD storage capacity. The new iPad runs iOS 4.3  and will start shipping mid-March. For more information and pictures, check out the release on Apple's web site!

2/29/2011 The fastest laptop on the planet (not surprisingly, a MacBook Pro) has been reviewed by PC Magazine. It Features Quad Core i7 Processor, Radeon 6750HD Graphics Processor and a ton of other goodies. Perhaps the most interesting is the New Thunderbolt port which promises to deliver 10GB per second transfer speeds. This will make editing movies and copying files to external thunderbolt devices such as hard drives lightning fast, and I am sure will be quickly adapted by video editing and photography buffs. Although a bit pricey (around $2,100 USD), we have never seen so much raw power and technology packed into a laptop which is certain to become a Holy Grail of sorts in the Mac community.

2/25/2011  In technology news, Apple Computer corporation has released a developer preview of a much anticipated Mac OS 10.5.7 codenamed "Lion". Follow this link to read about new and exciting features expected in this operating system.

2/11/2011  Need to find a broadband provider? Thanks to Obama administration's efforts to increase propagation of high speed Internet throughout the country, Federal government has put together an easy to use, search able database of broadband providers in your area.  You can go here and enter your zip code to find broadband access in your area.

2/05/2011  A new national study has been releases, highlighting the dangers of using the most popular classified website - Craigslist. With a recent Craigslist murder in our area, it is a good reminder that safety should be a major concern when conducting transactions on Craigslist. We are a part of the Craigslist community, and just wanted to remind our customers - when it comes to CL transactions, think safety first. Always meet at a public place. Law enforcement suggests, a well lit area where there is a lot of public. Perhaps in the vicinity of your local police department is the best choice to conduct transactions. Always be aware of your surroundings, be prepared and never conduct transactions alone, unless you are dealing with a legitimate business.
